Sue Mazzaferro-Knowles, PT, CPI

Susan Mazzaferro-Knowles, PT, CPI  knew she wanted to be a physical therapist as a teenager, and has never looked back. Her passion for her chosen profession continues to grow with each year of experience.

Sue received her B.S in Physical Therapy from Ithaca College in New York in 1987.  She began her career at NY Hospital Cornell where she worked with a variety of neurological and orthopedic patients as a lead senior therapist prior to moving to the Seattle area in 1991. Sue took the opportunity to learn theory related to diagnosis and treatment of movement impairment syndromes by taking courses taught by Shirley Sahrmann, PT, PhD, FAPTA in 1989 and 1990. She continues to integrate this approach to patient management into her practice by taking further coursework from Carrie Hall, PT, MHS and working with the staff of MSPT.

Her passion for learning is evident by her list of post graduate coursework. She began her post graduate study of manual therapy with The Institute of Physical Health and Science and continued with the North American Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy (NAIOMT),  passing her Level III NAIOMT written and practical examinations in 1995. She also took coursework to learn Augmented Soft Tissue Mobilization and was certified as an ASTYM provider in 1997. In 2003, Sue took the coursework and completed the examination process to become a Certified Pilates Instructor through Professional Health and Fitness Institute.

Sue joined Movement Systems Physical Therapy, P.S. in early 2005 and feels very privileged and excited to be invited to work with such an incredible group of practitioners. Her emphasis of practice has always been in treating the individual with a differential evaluation, manual therapy if indicated, and specific exercise to improve movement patterns, motor control, and to correct muscle imbalance. She and the patient work as a team for their return to their daily activities, job, hobbies, and/or sport as comfortably, safely, and effectively as possible.

Sue leads a very full life at home enjoying and sharing her time with her husband and two beautiful and very active sons. Together they travel, hike, cycle, ski, and enjoy all the wonderful activities this area has to offer.
