Robin Angus, MS, PT, CERT. MDT
Robin has devoted her entire career to outpatient orthopedic physical therapy practice in Los Angeles and Seattle. She has managed four clinics, was an "Advanced Clinical Specialist" while working for a nationwide corporation, and has been at Movement Systems Physical Therapy since 1998 where she serves as the Center Coordinator of Clinical Education. Robin applies an eclectic approach to her treatment and incorporates evaluation and treatment techniques from more than 1000 hours of continuing education coursework emphasizing Robin McKenzie's approach to the spine, orthopedic manual therapy (NAIOMT and advanced training in spine evaluation and treatment as developed by Stanley Paris, PT, PhD, FAPTA), biomechanical analysis, specific exercise prescription, muscle imbalances, and movement retraining. In 1991, Robin was one of the first Americans to be credentialed by the McKenzie Institute for diagnosis and therapy of mechanical disorders of the spine with an emphasis on intervertebral disc dysfunction. Not only has Robin assisted physical therapy continuing education courses for the McKenzie Institute, but she has also served as a teaching assistant for Shirley Sahrmann's "Diagnosis and Treatment of Movement Impairment Syndromes" courses as taught by Carrie Hall, PT, MHS, The McConnell Institute, and several PNF courses. Robin presented her research at the First Annual Helen J. Hislop Research Colloquium and has also presented a 4 hour Back School Program she developed at The American Back Society's 1987 Annual Conference. Robin enjoys treating patients of all ages with acute and chronic neuromusculoskeletal dysfunction of the spine and extremities. She performs an extensive initial evaluation and then uses patient education, manual therapy techniques, postural training, therapeutic exercise, movement retraining, surface electromyography (sEMG), home exercises, and self care instruction to help her patients decrease their symptoms and improve their alignment and biomechanics which ultimately leads to a healthier movement system. When not at work, Robin can be found enjoying her home life with her husband and identical twin daughters. She has been very active as a school volunteer and enjoys being a music mom, fitness walking, cooking, reading, hiking, USC football, sports, and learning new computer skills.
