Susan Grote Susan Grote has been a physical therapist since 1996. She earned her bachelors of science degree from the University of Washington. Prior to her degree in physical therapy, she received a bachelors of arts in architecture from the University of Washington in 1989. Susan has always had a fascination for the body, movement, and wellness. She was drawn to yoga, beginning her own personal practice in 1990, and completed a year- long teacher training in 1992. She has been teaching yoga since 1993 in a variety of settings. Susan’s focus in physical therapy has been primarily in orthopedics. She was first introduced to the teachings of Shirley Sarhmann, PT, PhD, FAPTA by Carrie Hall, PT, MHS in 1995 and began to integrate the principles of muscle balance and movement retraining early in her career. She has also studied manual therapy techniques with the North American Institute of Manual Therapy. In addition, Susan incorporates elements of yoga including body awareness, breathing and relaxation. She has a love of teaching and helping others help themselves toward better health. Outside of work, Susan lives with her husband Peter, and together they spend a great deal of their time raising their three children. Personally, Susan continues to enjoy her yoga practice, playing guitar with friends, and spending time in the great outdoors.
