Mitch Owens, MPT Mitch’s interest in physical therapy started early as a high school student athletic trainer and a competitive high school athlete. He realized early on that physical therapy would be the perfect profession for him to pursue. He received his masters of science in physical therapy from Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York in 2004. His physical therapy career began at Evergreen Hospital in Kirkland Washington. Here, his initial focus was on the treatment of individuals with neurological and vestibular disorders. At Evergreen he became an APTA certified specialist in the treatment of vestibular disorders. He is actively involved in a local vestibular study group that discusses current related research and best practices. Over time, Mitch became interested in the cervical contribution to vestibular disorders. To gain a higher level of expertise in diagnosing and treating joint related impairments, Mitch is currently pursuing a certification from the North American Institute of Manual Therapy. Combining his knowledge of the neurophysiology of the vestibular system with the perspective of a manual therapist, Mitch has a unique approach to the treatment of dizziness. In addition to vestibular disorders, Mitch has an interest in treating a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions. He recognizes the importance of combining his manual therapy skills with restoration of optimal movement through the use of specific exercise prescription and movement training. His choice to practice at Movement Systems Physical Therapy stems from his desire to combine expertise from both manual therapy and exercise interventions to comprehensively treat movement system dysfunction. His ultimate goal as a physical therapist is to empower each of his patients with the knowledge necessary to manage their condition independently and achieve their personal health, wellness, and fitness goals. During Mitch’s leisure time he practices yoga, engages in all forms of biking, enjoys snowboarding, and loves to cook. We are thrilled to add Mitch to our highly skilled physical therapy staff.
