Lisa Eaton, DPT
Lisa earned her undergraduate degree in history from the University of Notre Dame in 1992. After college, she worked in marketing for a software company. Restless with her career, she made a list of “must haves” for a new professional direction. She realized she wanted a profession that challenged her to learn on a continual basis, involved working with people, and was related to a lifestyle of wellness. In time, she discovered the profession of physical therapy. In 2001, Lisa received her doctorate in physical therapy (DPT) from Creighton University in Omaha, NE. Lisa specializes in both orthopedic and vestibular physical therapy. She was first introduced to the work of Shirley Sahrmann, PT, PhD, FAPTA as a student intern working with patients with low back pain. In 2003, she took a course from Carrie Hall, PT, MHS and was able to start integrating diagnosis and treatment of movement system impairments into her practice. Lisa has an eclectic background in manual therapy and she uses concepts and skills learned from the North American Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy, Institute for Physical Arts, and the McConnell Institute, among others. In 2005 Lisa completed the certification course for ASTYM (augmented soft tissue mobilization). Using this unique technique, Lisa is able to address chronic tissue restrictions which may be an underlying cause of movement impairment. Lisa is also certified in vestibular rehabilitation. She has taken many continuing education courses on vestibular rehabilitation and completed the APTA certification course in 2006. She has always been fascinated by vestibular and balance problems. Educating patients about the complex vestibular system and watching them progress with their rehabilitation programs is very rewarding for her. Outside of work, Lisa is an avid cook. She loves to experiment with new recipes and has an ever expanding collection of cookbooks and kitchen gadgets. She and her partner, Andrew, like to kayak the waterways of Puget Sound or hike into the Cascade and Olympic mountain ranges.
